Part of The Season of Talks by Historian Sheila Woolf
20th July – Caring for the Community
How did the Leigh family care for the people who lived and worked on their estate? This talk looks at the institutions in the village of Stoneleigh which bear the hallmark of the Leighs’ benevolence: church, almshouse's, school , club and inn – and even a workhouse! The Leighs’ notebooks, detailing villagers’ families and housing, give a unique insight into the connection between the “big house” and its main estate village.
Admission £7.50 which includes Grounds Entry.
The Vaulted Hall Tea room will be open for refreshments following the talk.
