Auntie Sheila's Blog

My first visit of the year to Stoneleigh today and what a treat it was. This year there is a season of short talks by Stoneleigh’s Historian, Sheila Woolf and she kicked off today with A Brief History of the Abbey Gardens.  Very interesting, informative and enjoyable, I thoroughly recommend  you go along on the last Monday of the month.  The next talk on 30th April is “Here Come The Girls” and is about the American Girls who married into the family - very topical with the upcoming Royal Wedding.

Today a visit by King Charles I, who I have to say looked very well for a man aged 417  and was quite happy to have a selfie taken!   I ended the afternoon in The Vaulted Hall with a cup of coffee and carrot cake -well it would be rude not to.

Take a trip, go and see the old Oak tree (dates back 1000 years), the stunning grounds, take a tour too and then treat yourselves to afternoon tea.  Go soon and see the lambs running round in the field, so cute,
