disabled access

We try to make it as easy as possible for our disabled visitors to see all that we have to offer but, as an historic site, we do have some low doorways, steep steps and uneven surfaces.

The grounds at the Abbey have gravel paths which may make wheelchair access dificult. Wheelchair users are welcome to journey over the grass verges, at their own risk.

The Gatehouse and pathways

There is allocated parking close to the Gatehouse entrance.

Disabled WCs are located in the grounds (close to the parking area) and in the lower ground floor of the West Wing – accessible by a lift.

The Vaulted Hall is the entrance to the West Wing and home to our Tea Room. It is set at lower ground level and has a lift.

There is a lift to the West Wing’s first floor State Rooms.
